MULTIPLE ABDOMINAL SWELLINGS

A 48 years old male presented with progressive swelling in the umbilical region for the last three years. This was accompanied by another swelling on the right side. Clinical examination was suggestive of a large partially reducible umbilical hernia with positive cough impulse. Another firm, non tender, irreducible swelling was noted on the right side, Carnet test revealed that the lesion was outside the muscle layers and ultrasound was suggestive of a cystic lesion in the abdominal wall. Exploration revealed an umbilical hernia with omentum and sebaceous cyst on the right side. Accordingly hernioplasty and excision of the sebaceous cyst was contemplated.
