| The results of the Provincial Doctors' Association, Ayub Medical Institution Unit have been announced. According to the results, Grand Doctors' Alliance has bagged 410 votes, and The Democrates obtained 269 votes, while 10 votes were rejected. Thus a total of 689 votes were casted. The Democrates have congratulated the winners, the Grand Doctors' Alliance, and expressed their full support to GDA for the cause of the community. The GDA has pledged to keep all doctors' community united and shall forget any grievences amongst the Doctors' Community. The Election Commissioner, Prof. Dr. Aziz ur Rehman Yousafzai has congratulated the winners and have admired the sportsman spirit of all doctors in electing their representatives. | The KMU has announced result of 1st Professional MBBS Part-II Examination 2009-A. The 1st position was won by Ms. Amreen Subhan, Roll No. 22161 of KMC with 969 marks. 2nd position was won by Ms. Khudeejah Iffat Roll No. 22189 of KMC with 959 marks, and 3rd position was won by Mr. Saeed Ali, Roll No. 22356 of KMC with 958 marks. According to the result 604 students appeared in the examination out of which 392 passed, making the success rate 65%. Khyber Girls College success rate was 78%, Ayub Medical College had 67% passing rate. Khyber Medical College had 64%, Gomal Medical College 61%, and Saidu Medical College had a success rate of 52%. Prof. Syed Humayun Shah, Vice Principal has taken over the charge of the office in a simple ceremony held in the Principal's Office. Later, a Farewell Lunch was arranged by the faculty and staff of the College in the honour of the outgoing Principal. Prof. Tariq Mufti's services for the cause of medical education, the medical community and the College were highly applauded by the new Principal, Prof. S. Humayun Shah. Prof. Mufti expressed his feelings of love for the College and reiterated his offer to remain in touch with the college for any services if and when required. The farewell lunch was attended by all faculty and most of the staff and was one of the great gatherings in the history of AMC. |

| In accordance to Prime Ministrer's announcement of upgradation of teacher's post on 'Salam Teacher Day', the KMU Authorities, as a first step, have upgraded posts of Professor to be in BS-21. All professors who have PhD, FRCS, MRCP or FCPS have been upgraded to BS-21 w.e.f. 4th December 2007. The rest of the cases will be finalised after formal approval of the Syndicate of KMU and they will also be upgraded from the same date without affecting their seniority per se. We congratulate the upgraded Teachers and thank the KMU Authorities for a step in right direction! |

| Surgicon-2007 started at Ayub Medical College, on 30th November 2007. Inauguration Ceremony was attended by a great number of delegates. Prof. Zafar Ullah Chaudgry, President College of Physicians & Surgeons, Pakistan presided over the the ceremony. Prof. Tariq Saeed Mufti, Dean Faculty of Surgery, Khyber Medical University, Prof. Jaffar Khan, Principal, Ayub Medical College, and Prof. Zia ur Rehman, Chief Executive, Ayub Teaching Hospital were also present. The Conference will continue for 3 days and will conclude on 2nd December 2007. More than 50 Scientific papers will be presented in the Scientific Sessions of the Conference besides Workshops of Medical Writing. The delegates have laude efforts of the Faculty of Ayub Medical College for the great success of the Conference. |

| Department of Medical Education, Ayub Medical College, organized a two day workshop on awareness about Microsoft Power Point for the faculty of AMC, on 24th & 25th January'2007. Workshop was facilitated by Dr. Shahid A. Shah, Head DME and included presentation, On screen demonstration and hands on training in the computer lab. 35 faculty members attended the workshop. The Pakistan Journal of Physiology, PJP, is also published from Ayub Medical College and has been issued ISSN 1819-270X. The 1st issue of the Journal has been launched on 7th April 2006 at the 10th Biennial International Conference of the Pakistan Physiological Society held at Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro. Dr. Ahmed Badar, Managing Editor of both medical journals deserves special appreciation for his hard work which brought this honour to Ayub Medical College! |
